Just because the funding is now in the school estate budget does not necessarily mean that the AWP has to wait until the school estate plan is consulted on, developed and implemented. We can explore this more on Monday evening.
I was under the impression that the project is now under the School Estate in the hope that one day money will be assigned to it or more likely that it would be built as part of a new school project. If however, the latter never happens then why would education make an AWP a priority? The business case clearly highlighted the pitch could not be built on the lower playing field or that the Grammar School would be willing to give up their only green grass area (uppper school playing field) to host the new all weather surface. The primary schools don't have any land so as per the business case, the Meadows was highlighted as the best spot. I would then be surprised if Education would be willing to invest money which is not attached to any school
If a new school is built then yes, 5, 6, 7 years...
I'll look forward to the discussion on Monday night. The only reason I brought this on to the forum was to highlight the situation and hopefully gather some support and more importantly views.
John - I welcome your discussion on this matter on the forum - much appreciated.
By the way, I passed Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh on Tuesday and was very very impressed by the design of the new school - really striking. To boot two new All Weather Pitches....
