[quote="morenish"]no, no heidless one, the only bleck jeans i have were bought in tescos,
but you could maybe apply your feeble quip to yourself as there will be more brains in your horse, will there not? :D quote]

Ah, Morenish ma boy, where do I start?
It would be unkind to point out that at least I had a brain to start with and besides I still know where to find it when the occasion arises. (If you ever find something grisly down the Tinker's Track you have probably just stumbled on my cranium box.)

My advice to you would be twofold.

Firstly, keep off the hill. Your Bochan traits will just come to the fore again and you know what happened last time!

Secondly, you should shut your curtains when you are sending these messages. The sight of you sitting like a debauched Captain Kirk in the lounge of the SS Morenish sending cyber smoke signals has been frightening the neighbours.

I've got to hand it to you Morenish, the way you've mastered this technology is wonderous to behold. It seems like only yesterday that you were squatting on the shoreline with nothing but the sea behind your tòn,
a big grin on you face and a handful of seaweed ready to do the needful. I mind the towerists used to love it!

By Jove Morenish, the sight of you sitting there with yer feet in a hell of a pair of carpet slippers and yer grandfathers spectacles balanced on the end of yer nose.

Yer just like a big marsupial wedged in an undersized computer chair. Does the wife fill up the pouch (breast pocket of yer bib and brace) with yer piece for the day, before she sets off to hoe the turnips in the morning?.

I know fine you've got a heap of blue-moulded crusts lying down the back of your computer desk. Well I suppose it's aye penicillin for the mice!

Harbour Upgrade

Postby Bochan Mor » Fri Oct 14, 2005 3:32 pm

Congratulations are in order for the harbour committe following the Scottish Executive announcement that a grant is to be awarded under an EC FIFG scheme. The proposed upgrade had to be geared towards the leisure market, ie yachts etc, to qualify.

Right Pongal has been singled out for special recognition due to the fact that he inspired the most cost effective method of enhancing the esthetic experience for yachties and land based tourist alike.

His idea involves roofing over the whole area, cladding the side walls and covering the outer shell with camoflague nets, achieving perpetual darkness! He also suggested approaching Gary to see if he could put an even larger Keech Collector out to tender as soon as possible!

He was reminded that the current preferred method involves 3 large skips, some carefully positioned hand written notices and a JCB with an extra large bucket and grab.

With the current worldwide demand for scrap, its not beyond the realms of possibility that a collection of ferrous metal from the quay and Shore Road area could more than finance the whole project.

This Week's Courier

Postby GarySutherland » Sat Oct 15, 2005 7:51 am

Nice picture on the letters page of the Courier this week. School children at the opening of the new pier at Carradale, 1950s.

Centre-front of course is Nonnie. No doubt there are plenty of other (in)famous characters in the photo.

Cheers

Wild Talk!

Postby Right Pongal » Sat Oct 15, 2005 6:13 pm

For goodness sake bochan & bubbly, let sleeping dogs lie. I'm not in trim with that kind of fearful talk on a public forum like this, which is read by women & children.

Thankfully the moderators intervened and removed the offending article. People come and go in places like this, and if the community and lifestyle don't suit them, they will invariably go.

Anyway, I've got a pot of squat lobsters needing shelled before the caliach comes home, so back to channel 10!
Don't jeest leave it at yer erse, everything has a place ....................so keep it Pongal!

Does anybody know....

Postby GarySutherland » Mon Oct 17, 2005 8:17 am

Just up the coast from Carradale, where there's a path down to the shore from the forrestry road on Deer Hill, there's a little derelict brick-built shed. If you follow the path up the coast towards Grogport you eventually come across another one.

They're right on the shoreline and it can't have been easy to get building materials out there.

Does anyone know what they were for?

Where art thou?

Postby Whips & Jingles » Mon Oct 17, 2005 11:16 pm

Hey village dwellers, where are you all hiding? It seems eerily peaceful in the thread from the sleepy little village by the sea. No bochans, Morenish, Good Doctor, nor Horseman. It's like a ghost town around these parts. I have asked around, but no one seems to know the location of the bochan's lair.

Someone thought that the Morenish was competing in the poetry section at the Gaelic Mod in Stornoway. Is there such an event?
Was this a smokescreen to facilitate the filling of his car boot with the pre-packed fossil fuel, that seems to be scattered along the highways covering the length & breadth of the Western Isles, in an effort to augment his extensive log-pile into the next solstice?

What about Gary, does he keep his hovercraft at the harbour or over at the River? Does he fish for his eels with fyke nets, or does he use otter trawl? They say that they are very effective in narrow creeks.

Keep your nose to the wind in the coming weeks and months, as the temptation to throw one or two choice lumps onto a fancy woodburner might just be too great.

P.S.

If you do smell the fragrance of smouldering peat, consider it your civic responsibility to phone 01876 900816 and report it to Angus or Donald Murdo. There is no need to mention the Morenish by name, just quote the Pairc number inscribed on the plastic bag.

I do sometimes wonder if the reason all of these pseudonyms are absent at the same time isn't simply the fact that they are all one and the same person in real life...

The last fish I caught was a Pike, I think. Some years ago now but as a boy I was very fond of course fishing, and could often be found on the banks of the local ponds trying to tease a Tench from the weeds.

I dont think so....... But they are probably all hiding from a cyber stalker with multiple personalities! What ever happened to the Scouder? He must be plumbing the depths.

Definitely not bubbly, the heidless horseman, Morenish, Sanyanya, Right Pongal, Gary or Kneel
