GJ sez if thats the sort of welcome his visit gets, then he'll naw be back, least ways naw until he has to take a cord somewhere. whatever a cord is?

Vets and Thermometers

him that hasna done a days work in his life, DRs! damn parasites sittin takin money off the government and moanin they are hard worked, any ailment i have that mrs morenish canna cure, i phone mr cousins the vet, remarkable man, can diagnose shingles while elbow deep in a coos er**

now a system where DRs were paid on results rather than havin it doled out to them would fairly knock the toryism out o some of them!

pongal dinna you worry aboot where my jackets hingin unless its ootside your hoose when you come home to the ever grateful mrs pongal

but yer right about kirnashee, no sign of a spellchecker on the router!

Dear me Morenish, are you any where near getting over this bout of consumption? I was sure that I saw the vet round again paying you a house call. I asked Snoddy and he said that the only reason that you use the animal doctor is that his thermometer is of a gauge suitable for taking readings from your nether regions. He says that he daren't put a thermometer near you mouth, as your liable to eat it. Infact he was quoted as saying: ' You need to be very careful, as he'd eat the hands off you.'

I said to Snoddy that I heard that you had consumption and he said that the only consumptions that you had to worry about, were soup (Not Soep), potatoes, whisky, electricity, toilet paper and logs for your fire.' He also added: 'Not necessarily in that order!'

I've always found his bedside manner to be very good, but probably only because I once caught him by the throat!

Dangers o' exercise

Postby SARID » Fri Apr 11, 2008 11:39 am

A've bin oot o' touch for a wee while, because a'd decided tae take that denged Dr Snoddy's
advice, antry tae slim doon a bit. Ah got all kitted oot, even tae a pair o' trainers wi the heels that light up when ye run! There wisna many lake me, let me tell ye when Ah wis ready for the "off "
Ma route wis past the Bakers ( avoiding the rolls an' the cream cookies ) an doon the rod towards the Quay. Ah went doon the Spoot Wid , turned right for the Quay, then up the Quay Brae tae pit the cardio-vascular system under pressure, and then back tae Airds Wid fur a refreshment. ( no prepared tae say whit form the refreshment took )
Anyway Ah wis cairry oot that routine fur the best pert o' a week when disaster struck!
Where am an now ? Am in ma bed wi "repetative strain ( or is it sprain injury ) tae both ma legs ! Ah havena bothered tae call Snoddy in, as Ah might be tempted tae gie him a crack wi ma elbow crutches
Forgot tae say ah wis followin this punishin routine 4 times a day, and tae cap it all Snoddy wis geein me the "thumbs " up ivery time he passed in his car when ah wis "on the Rod "

Thumbs Up

Postby Right Pongal » Sat Apr 12, 2008 2:04 pm

SARID ma soul, Snoddy was probably only thumbing a walk, just looking for any excuse to get out that car and exercise himself. They're saying that Snoddy was drafted into see Morenish as well and one drunk man swore that he saw Kenina going in with a one of thoes old buff couloured parrafin tins, reeking of surgical spirit.

One of his fishermen neebours was spotted carrying in a block and tackle and a posse of 'robust' weemin wae their sleeves rolled up went breezing in armed with clean towels and sheets. You don't think that the big fla has gone down wae bed sores? Despite whit the Bochan says, he's no used to lying on his erse for days on end.

Did you see thon teenybopper band 'The Bay City Rollers' is coming to Campbeltown and being supported by a couple of local acts. 'The Man fae Del Monte' was named as one of them, so things must be right tight at the fishing the now. Someone said that he's got a voice like a seagull, so he'll naw last the pace I doubt!
Don't jeest leave it at yer erse, everything has a place ....................so keep it Pongal!

IsCarradale a ghost village ??

Postby SARID » Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:22 pm

Whit's heppened tae yeez all? The silence is deefening!! Ah hope tae goodness yeez are naw all in the jail fur speedin----- ah did warn ye all the Polis were clampind doon in a big way. The alternative is yeez are all in yir beds wi concussion , efter goin over speed bumps too fast , and at yir ages too-------- serves yeez right! a've no sympathy. Ah hope Dr Snoddy dinna haav tae go tae the expence o' hirin a "Chennook " if a crowd o' yeez were needin"flown away" tae the Southern General fur treatment.
A've jeest being sortin oot gen J on the Kintyre dialect thread o' "chit chat ". He had the cheek tae suggest the pronounciation o' 7 and 11 in Carradale wis "seevan " and "eleeven" As ah told him that wis pure Cammeltin an niver heard in our Glen, so well hear whit he has tae say aboot that!!

Sorry tae hear aboot yer troubles Sarid but ah havna been near the village for a while and so mist seeing ye wachling up the quay brae in aw yer gear. Ye must av bin some sight. That cold wind's keepin me in the hoose an enyway the place is wil' an quiet at this tim o'year. From Xmas tae now used tae be the time fur lettin' hooses and sheds. If ye wirna let b'now ye wir in danger o' havin tae take folk that might leave a durty hoose. If they did their names wid be mud an they winna get back. Now thir's harly a hoose tae bi had.

Do any o' yeez mind o' a wee stream that used tae go under the path jeest north o' the shark factory? Ma faither told me it wis called "Money Underneath" an ah wis always hopin gold coins wid be glistenin' in it some dae. Well the stream is no more and the hope of riches gone too. Anybudy else acquant wi' that yarn?

Tickety Boo's complainin aboot the litter. There's nuthing worse fur makin the place look doon at heel. When ah wis at the Grammar in the fifties Drac often lectured us at the assemby about litter an I'll tell ye this they'll no be many who heard these lectures will iver hiv drapt a sweetie paper in their lives.

Money Underneath

Postby chuckiebay » Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:57 am

Thank god ye're back Humph tae verify my faither's yarn. We used tae wunder if it wis the stash belongin' tae the robber that Ian Bhan disarmed up there. Maybe RC who often has a stravaig up there will know when the stream dried up. We'll blame the forestry.

Money underneath.

Postby SARID » Thu Apr 17, 2008 1:56 pm

I mind, now ye mention it, o' ma Fether talking about "money underneath ". Howiver, maybe hae a wee word wi RCB tae try an establish location. After that,Chuckie, the best ploy wid be tae hire a JCB, an stert diggin before sombiddy else as mad fur money as yirsel haas the same idea.
Ye could be sunnin yirsel in sum exotic spot far away from the cold North wind blowin in tae the Chuckiebay the now, an is the cause o' yir rheumatics geein ye jip.I felt right sorry fur ye in the Bakers the otherday seeing the struggle ye wir haavin tae keep goin. Could Tesco naw see their way tae deliver tae the Chuckie Bay, an save ye the bother o' wachlin up the Spoot Wid tae Airds ?
