Are you sitting comfortably ?

Have your say....

Are you sitting comfortably ?

Postby Martin » Sat Sep 20, 2014 4:29 pm

Then I'll begin.
I spent a fun time today watching old kids TV programs.
Watch With Mother, Andy Pandy, Lost In Space, Flowerpot Men, and Tingha & Tucker, all together now...."Tingha and Tucker the two little bears".
Looking at these now it's no wonder some of us grew up a wee bit strange.
So, come on, own up, who else was a proud member of The Tingha & Tucker Club ?

The thing that shocked me the most was seeing Will Robinson (Bill Mumy) from Lost In Space, he turned 60 this year.

Just thinking that now all this Independence crap is out of the way, we can discuss the things that matter. Now was it "Midge" or "Mitch" the chimp from Supercar?

Same here, GG.

Mr Google, however, informs me that Tinga and Tucker were on Anglia TV in the 1960s.

I used to LOVE Torchy the Battery Boy, can still sing the theme tune! Never saw any of the others, although I have heard of them. Does anyone remember Prudence Kitten, with Annette Mills, or aren`t any of you as old as me?

I didn't realise Tinga and Tucker were just regional, we must have been living in that area at the time.
Don't remember seeing Supercar as a kid but do recall Fireball XL5 although when I remember it, it must have already been a repeat.
Never heard of Prudence Kitten. I don't remember Torchy on TV but I had a Torchy book, like a hard back comic.
I remember Captain Pugwash at a very early age.

Roger the Cabin Boy, Seaman Staines and Master Bates are urban myths.

Talking about being rude, there was "Muffin the Mule"!
Anyone remember Shirley Abicair with the autoharp. I think she was Australian.
Then the classic French-made serial "Robinson Crusoe". I just googled the theme tune and was back in 1964 instantly.
