It has been a beautiful April and i have seen gorgeous sunset after gorgeous sunset off of Machrihanish as the setting sun has marched a wee bit further north along the horizon each evening and is now setting behind Islay again. This natural wonder will be defaced by this depressingly industrial development.
I have read back through this thread and nobody seems to have mentioned the obvious alternative..wave power. It blows 80% of the year on the Kintyre coast, but there are waves 98% of the time. It is renewable and would have far less visual impact..just like boaties on the horizon. I know that wave technology is far behind that of wind power technology, but trials are happening in various places around Scotland and if construction here is not planned until 2014, there is time enough to wait to get the right solution. Waves are the best, constant natural resource we have and even the wind power skeptics find it hard to dismiss the potential contribution they could make.
