I'm sure I enjoyed the book so hopefully yours will pick up.

One of the films I found to be far superior to the book was Mystic River ,directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Sean Penn/Robert DeNiro and Tim Robbins.I actually saw the film before reading the book ,so wether that had anything to do with it I don't know

Great film, aren't all films directed by Clint Eastwood ?Probably what made the difference,as I did not enjoy the book.

A big spread in The Daily Record the other day about a "best selling" crime writer called Caro Ramsay from Govan....she seems to have had 3 books published, all with great reviews!! Ordered them for Mr Ags for the holidays and he can pass them on to me. Had never heard of her before but a really good article. She is a pal of Alex Gray so that will be you put off Bill :) Iain really liked Alex Gray and I didn't but will give Ms Ramsay a shot!

Just got the new Jack Reacher from what we'll soon have to call the old Tesco. That's the weekend taken care of then.

I`ll have to look out for Caro Ramsey, and I also like Alex Gray. Have finished Aftermath, very good, and very different from the first half of the TV version. Am now reading .....................an Alex Gray, Never Somewhere Else.

Thanks for that Ags, have just ordered from Amazon - a Govan writer will do it for me. I also ordered the new Mitch Albom book which I was going to get in the States this month but it was actually cheaper here.
Absolutely hated the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, absolute hype but we are reading for our Book Group this month The Snowman, halfway through and it's very good so far.

I`ve bought The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, because of conflicting reports on it. I thought I`d give it a go and see what I make of it.

Jack Reacher comes to the rescue once again, like a modern day Lone Ranger but without a Tonto, in Lee Child's latest book "Worth Dying For".Once again I found myself skipping pages as he travels from one place to another. At least the body count is a lot higher as he gets back to doing what he does best, killing the bad guys. Not much else to say really as it is the same formula as the previous 14.It is much better than "61 Hours"though.

Just caught up with these comments this morning, so I have been to Tesco and got the new Jack Reacher and the new Mitch Albom is winging its way with the first Caro Ramsay to me from Amazon. :D

At the moment I`m reading a rather strange book forwarded to me by a friend, A Little Death, by Laura Wilson. She`s an author new to me, I`m just hoping it`s going to come together very soon.

I agree, Bill, Lee Child is back on better form with this one. I didn't find myself skipping any pages, however. Trying to work out what the bad guys were actually up to and how exactly they were going to get their come-uppance made it pretty gripping for me anyway. And he made a good job of bringing the two plots together smoothly and believably at the end.

I was reading a poll the other day on who should play Jack Reacher should the books ever be made into films - any ideas? Nicholas Cage was suggested but that's a definite "no way" in my opinion. Mrs A always pictured him as Patrick Swayze and I kind of imagine him to look like Mr Springsteen so a suggestion today of Russell Crowe could work for me??

I agree, definitely NOT Nicholas Cage, he`s too wimpy. It needs to be a big man to do a creditable performance, but I`m not very well up on modern actors, so can`t really volunteer any suggestions. Actually though, Rutger Hauer in his prime might have been OK. I picture Reacher as looking a bit like Peter Schmeichel (sp?)
