PS, I bought some books in Asda the other day. One was The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, by Stieg Larsson, and it was on a shelf marked "£3.97, two for £7". A few minutes later I was browsing another shelf where they were all £4.50, and it was on there as well, so I asked an assistant if I was going to be charged £4.50 at the checkout, and she said no because I`d got it as 2 for £7. I asked why then was it on the other shelf at a higher price and apparently it was because the cover picture was slightly different! I`ve heard it all now!

Ags, I`ve been replenishing my book stocks today, and one of the books I bought was Room, following your recommendation. As I enjoyed The Snowman so much I bought 3 more by Jo Nesbo, hope they`re as good. I`m still waiting (impatiently) for Heartstone by C.J.Sansom to go paperback.

I've just finished reading "Crabbit old Buggers" by John K V Eunson, which I was given at Christmas, and I now know that I am one. This is something that I have suspected for some time.

Pray for silence by Linda Castillo again has Chief of police Kate Burkholder as the central character. An Amish family are found murdered,their two teenage daughters sexually abused and mutilated.


Sunset Express from Robert Crais is an earlier instalment of the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike partnership.Crais never fails to deliver an entertaining and believable tale.

I`ve just finished Room, brilliant read. It`s like nothing else I`ve ever read, the only other book I could liken it to is The Boy With the Striped Pyjamas, although it`s very different even from that one. Made a nice change from thrillers, although I`m back there now, reading Have You Seen Her? by Karen Rose.

I was hoping Lee Child had a new book out when I saw your post,but of course this isn't the case at all.

Cross Fire by James Patterson is the latest in the Alex Cross series.Kyle Craig is up to his nasty tricks again,but thankfully this is the last we will see of him as he finally meets his maker.Personally I think Cross has run his course,time to kill him off.

Just finished The Hanging Shed by Gordon Ferris. Set in Glasgow just after ww2. I thought it was okay.

Whose turn for the Stairs by Glaswegian author Robert Douglas is about as far as you can get from my usual reading material.
Twice I was tempted to give up on it,but stuck with it,and was glad when I reached the end.
The story concerns the fictional characters who live up the close at 18 Dalbeattie Road, Maryhill, Glasgow,in the year 1949/1950.
I think the author should have removed his rose tinted specs before he started.
I have his three volumes of autobiography to read next.Hopefully they will be more in touch with reality.

Isa, how is the kindle? I can't imagine not having books around but I know, especially at holiday times, a kindle would be really handy.
