Finished The Stonehenge Legacy, enjoyed it muchly, read one bad review, but it suited me. Am just starting on Terror`s Reach, by Tom Bale, he`s new to me, too soon to give an opinion as yet.

John Sandford's latest, Bad Blood,is as always from Sandford a terrific read.Virgil Flowers,of The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, gets called in to investigate a murder, and two apparent suicides. What he uncovers is a child sex abuse ring that has been active for over two generations under the cover of a religous group.

Terror`s Reach wasn`t bad, but a bit tame compared to most books that I read. I`ve just finished The Treatment by Mo Hayder, very good. I`ve read one of her books before, Gone, but I think that this one is better. I`m now about to do "swapsies" for another Mo Heyder, Birdman. Am now reading Dark Blood, by Stuart Macbride, a murder thriller set in Aberdeen in the middle of winter, OK so far.

WC1 wrote:I've just finished "Lennox" by Craig Russell and recommend it highly. It's a good, fast-paced crime thriller set in Glasgow shortly after the Second World War with a Canadian private eye for the hero and a big cast of gangland hard men (and a couple of quite nasty women). Lots of wry humour. The author is new to me but I see he has some 'previous' so I think I'll hunt them down. If they're as good as "Lennox" it should be worth the effort!

I got the latest in Craig Russell's Lennox series when I was up the road the weekend before last. "The Long Glasgow Kiss" picks up where the first book left off, following private eye Lennox's progress through a Glasgow underworld dominated by the 'Three Kings', the big three of the city's criminal fraternity. This time the story is based around bookies, boxing and Glasgow's role as a staging post in the international trade in heroin. It cracks along at a fair pace and is full of the tongue in cheek humour that made the first book so enjoyable. Another 'highly recommended'.

Loss from Edinburgh based author Tony Black is the third instalment in the Gus Dury series.
Gus Dury is a changed man. He is off the Edinburgh streets and back with estranged wife, Debs. And above all, he's off the drink. Then his brother Michael is found dead with a bullet in his heart and Gus' life begins to unravel all over again. How can he keep the promises he has made and still avenge his brother's murder?

Am currently reading Kiss Me Quick, a first book by Danny Miller. It`s set in the seedy underworld of Brighton in 1964, during a bank holiday weekend with the mods and rockers at each others throats. Not really too keen on it, but I`ll still finish it. The first chapter is set in December 1939, but is somewhat marred by the mistake of mentioning the twinkling fairy lights in windows................during the blackout??

Finished Kiss Me Quick, but didn`t really enjoy it, it was okay, but not memorable. I`ve just finished Birdman, by Mo Hayder, a bit of a shocker, but really very good. Am now reading The Creeper, by Tania Carver. Too early to form an opinion as yet, but if it`s as good as her first book, The Surrogate, I`ll be well satisfied.

The latest from Robert Crais ,"The Sentry",is another excellent story in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series.

In any type of conflict Joe Pike would beat Jack Reacher every time.

I may just do that Bill, he`d be a new author to me, never read anything by him. I`m just coming to the end of The Creeper, by Tania Carver, very good.

Well Bill, it`s not his latest, but I managed to get hold of a Robert Crais book today, L.A Requiem. Won`t be reading it jusat yet, as I`ve quite a few in the cupboard at the moment.
I really enjoyed The Creeper, am now reading Private, by James Patterson and Maxine Pietro, not bad, but not as good as some of Patterson`s other stuff.

Haven't been on here for ages!! I will have a proper catch up with what everybody has been reading over the holidays, and hopefully get some more reading done myself. Numberplease, Private was really disappointing but I have just read 2 new Patterson's in succession. Tick Tock, in the Michael Bennett series was really good and in 10th Anniversary with Maxine Paetro he was right back on form.
I have just started the latest Linwood Barclay but am only a few pages in at the moment :)

Hello Ags, I thought we`d lost you! As you say, Private was a little disappointing, I`ve just finished it, don`t know whether to try the next one or not. I`ve just started on Hangman, by Faye Kellerman. I quite like her books, having been a fan of her hubby for quite a while, but not too keen on their son`s writings. I was pleased to be able to get Heartstone, by C.J.Sansome yesterday, I love the Matthew Shadlake stories.
