Clog Shod

Here now ZZ top, the clog shod wummin never slept in the yurt, they dossed down in the locker room. Some kindly young crofters allegedly arrived through the pitch darkness to ensure that they were warm enough in their makeshift camp.

Apparently the yurt is to be erected on an annual basis now, with the inception of 'Feas Ballymeanach' which will run as an official fringe to the Mull of Kintyre Music Festival. The grant application forms are being filled in as we speak, with simultaneous events being planned for Tayinloan, Tarbert and Gigha.

Onwards & Upwards!

'Feas Ballymeanach' indeed. Here's me thinking that was the forthcoming Stones gig at Hampden. Don't suppose Morenish will be going what with the cheaps seats at £125 a throw (he'll have to sell more than one coo to finance that trip...)

If you're having problems with the grant application forms I hear Morenish is a dab hand, what with all them past farming subsidies and that.

Morenish is said to be one of the original Rolling Stones. He gathers no moss. ....... Come to think of it, that's not all that he doesna gather. There's the silage, firewood, eggs, brambles...... and the list goes on. Mind you, he can still make it to the Post Office on a Monday when there's an easier crop to be reaped.

More power to his elbow. It's not that he needs it you understand, its just that he likes to test the system to its limits. Now I'm not sure about this Feis thing. It may be that I overhead someone saying: ' I couldna face Ballymeanach again tonight,' whatever that's about, I don't know!

I went to watch the football match this afternoon...sorry admin3!....between Southend and Carradale at Kintyre Park..a cup final actually.

It was a grand occasion with a decent crowd, most of them from Carradale I must say, but I stood with the small band of Southend supporters and cheered the good guys and BOOED the bad guys..................... and the referee!!
It was all in very good taste and the game played in good spirit...just the ONE SOuthend player sent off!

The craic and banter at the game was great, met many of my oldest, lifetime, buddies there and also other friends and acquaintances and I enjoyed it all greatly.

Davie P was there so maybe photos will appear somewhere....but he was standing with the Carra Carra Carradale fans...........so the photos will all be biased towards the boys from the North

Aye, it was a good day out................................................

and, ehhhhhhhhhhh Carradale won :( deservedly

Jeeging wae Darrahs

Postby Right Pongal » Tue Aug 29, 2006 1:59 pm

By Jove Bitter End, thon Jock the Boat's fair deadly wae the darrahs. He's jeeging away there doon in CN, and pulling a Dalton up on each hook, and by gum are they wriggling! Sweltered there's looking a bit hot under the collar and the 'General', well I suppose he's been that way for a while. Mrs Pongal was just saying; that it's naw a good thing to have all them bouys in the one room, cause if they canna pick a fight wae anyone else, they'll turn on each other.

The General can do all the piping and chanting that he wants, but it's naw him that Jock should be worrying about. The small quiet, deep-thinking fella is far more dangerous and less predictable. As the General well knows, when you see that look in his eyes, it's probably too late!
Don't jeest leave it at yer erse, everything has a place ....................so keep it Pongal!

Younger Siblings

Postby Sanyanya » Wed Aug 30, 2006 8:56 pm

General Jack, I also had the pleasure of cohabitting with some minors of both genders in my tender years. No matter how often I offered to 'Put a bottle to yir heid,' the response was monotinously predictable. 'Aye, you and who's army?' Anyway, I duly obliged once.... and only once, just in time to test the theory that my mother's threats to 'blacken' my 'eens' was as hollow as the dog's marrow bone. Much to my horror, I learned very much the hard way, that her offers of chastisement were in reality as hollow as a lump of McNair's best coal.

You would have thought that there was far from adequate void space to circumnavigate the internals of the tent with a fully extended feline, but I swear that my nose did a full 360 degrees of the canvas mansion. I can say this in all certainty, as I remained conscious long enough to accurately evaluate the quantity of willow and hazel frames, as they deflected under the pressure of contact with my cranium.

Anyway, by the morning all had been forgotten, and I was allowed to walk to the bakers and select some freshly dug potatoes from the central-front store................. Oh Happy Days.......

Did you mention someone with multi-coloured trousers in another thread? I could have sworn that they used to hang on a washing line half way down the Quay Brae. No, they couldn't possibly be the same trousers, as they were certainly a one off.
Strip the Willow was a trade long before the devil turned it into a dance!
