How is the training going

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

Good to meet up with you this morning DJD, I hope I didn't slow you down too much!

I felt fine as I headed back into town at my normal pace, but I think I paid in for that faster mile as I struggled home over the last 1.5 miles. But, I made it to 11 miles again in a similar time to last week, so I'm pleased with that :)

Great pic JD, there is always somebody or vehicle up there.

That car park is esactly 12 miles from here and once I ran back from there.........BAD IDEA!! in fact caused me to be injured, miss weeks of training and put in a very poor show at 2002 Marine Corps Marathon.....so, if your thinking of it...................DONT!!

Just too much down hill, by the time I got to Carskiey my right calf muscle was wrecked and it took a year to get right better and I am still wary of it.

I certainly did enjoy running with Hendrie and John last night. What a difference having company. 95% of my runs have been, and will be, on my own.....I love that too but a training partner might pep things up a bit when the going gets tough and it's hard to get the first few steps out the door.

Maybe when I get the cows out I will manage into town on a Sunday morning and join Ice Blue, DJD, Rab etc etc...if they will have me.

Iceblue

Yes it was nice to put a face to the name.Out of the miles l did this morning that was the most enjoyable mile due to the chat and thats why running in a group makes running more fun and it takes the mind of the pace (within reason). We all struggle towards the end of a long run,11 miles is a long way don't forget,so well done on that front.

4th gen

You hit the nail on the head ref having running partners it certainly helps knowing you have made the arrangements you stick to it, come rain/hail/and not very often sunshine.Your more than welcome to meet up for a run when you have the time. Its a shame that l have just one more 10 miler to do on the Sunday runs befor my race.,but l'm sure the others will be still doing the Sunday run.Look forward to meeting up with you sometime.

Rest day tomorrow

Had a decent run tonight but a black doag jumped up on me, scratched and bit me!!
It was on a lead but the wee lassie holding it could not keep it from running at the passing runner!

Not sore really but it did kind of throw me and I changed the route and came home making it 5.6......all part of the fun

Meant to do a reasonably paced 7 miles tonight, but felt good so went for a hard, but not flat out, 10k. No dogs in the vicinity

4th gen--might be an idea to see if you can get the dog to chase you round on 27th May!! Maybe post your fastest time yet.

You might be right Rab!

I was going to pull back a bit from training...just miss a night or two.....my left calf muscle was aching a bit

But today a 25 foot slurry pipe fell on my head.....blood everywhere and a rush into the hospital.....turns out the cut is not too bad but there are two big lumps on my skull and my left lumber region is numb and aching.......also, right knee has been jarred and is giving great pain.

By the time all that clears up the aching calf will be long cleared up!

I am not one bit happy about all this........ :? :( dont know when I'll get back at it...... hopefully not too far down the line. :D

Jeez Oh! 4th gen--you certainly don't have your troubles to seek at the moment. Hope things get better for you soon. It's hopeless, sitting waiting for a while for something to clear up. Keep us posted on your progress.

You didnae shoot back to 1973 for a wee visit, by any chance.

Aw that's a real shame 4th gen. I hope your aches and pains get better pretty quickly and you get back to training. You need to take more care down on the farm.

Sorry to hear about your accident 4th Gen - hope you recover soon.

Interval training for me earlier this evening. It's the training session I least look forward to - always feel like abandoning them and doing a comfortable run instead!

Thanks for all the good wishes..... ach.....it's not so bad, I am sure I will be back running soon.

It is VERY frustrating though.......and that is me having missed just tonight!

Maybe, just maybe! manage a wee gentle jog on Friday night.

Sometimes an enforced rest can be a good thing...........

That's just what me and my local farming buddies were saying this morning Anne, It is WICKED TIRESOME looking after these cooz for 6 long months!

Will be looking out for runners when I drive into town tonight....but suspect it will be next Monday before I get back to it...maybe longer.
