The Boss!

Have your say....

Sheik, I should have known what you meant, either the wine I had partaken in with my visitors last night, or the exhaustion , had kicked in and I didn't read your post properly  Have you washed that hand yet
Maganru, I missed the bit about the sound out in my "rant". I really struggled to make out what Springsteen was saying when he spoke......the sound was really bad from where we were on the pitch! It was fine when they were playing though.
Rainbowsprite, glad you made it back and glad you enjoyed the show despite the non participating pal! Welcome to this elite gang!!
I have just spoken to a guy in the golfclub who goes to loads of concerts, I think he has done 4 in the last as many weeks. He said, despite the audience, that was without a doubt, THE GREATEST LIVE PERFORMANCE HE HAS EVER SEEN :D
I forgot to say...... we parked the car beside Hampden about 2.30pm on Tuesday afternoon to have a wander and buy our t-shirts, and were lucky enough to be sitting on the steps outside Hampden listening to the sound check!!! He did a couple of runs through Darkness on the Edge of town and Seeds!! Brilliant :D Where can we go to next

I'm really stunned here :<>

Did Sheik REALLY shake The Boss's hand?

No kidding, is there evidence?

I did indeed GG! When I exited the stadium there was a large barrier & curtained off area where you could see there were parked behind it. There were a 2 x police motorbike outriders there as well, so I reckoned they were just about to leave. Everyone was huddling around the curtain trying to get a peek through it or over it. I decided to head further along to where they would actually drive out from to get onto the road. There were security guards and police everywhere.

So they opened the gates and out came the two outriders, follwoed by Bruce. He sat in the front passenger seat of the lead car, and nice silver Range Rover (I couldn't see who was in the back as the windows were tinted, might have been his son?) The rest of the band followed in about 6-7 people carriers.

So I got in between two security guards as he was driving past and held out my hand, at which point he put the window down and shook it. 8) Then lots of people started rushing towards the car and he shook their hands as well. The security guards were then frantically trying to get people away from the car. So that was my wee story of shaking his hand. I'm sure he'll be tellign the same story on the other side of the Atlantic

He sends his regards by the way

PS. I do have a photo, but it appears to be of the front wheel of the Range Rover :)

I managed to get to Hampden at about 1700 and caught the last bit of the sound check.
When they eventually opened the turnstiles I walked down to the pitch and into the area in front of the stage , only about 6 rows of fans between myself and the stage, centre stage.
It seemed to take ages to fill the seats in the stands , even after Nils started ''Flower Of Scotland'' , which everyone sang along to.
The sound was a bit poor initially , but it didn't take long to get it sorted.
Most of the crowd around me seemed to be enjoying the show , however an awfull lot seemed to spend a lot of time going for drinks them trying to find their mates , before having to go back to the toilets , returning to try and find their mates again ! ? !
The concert was fantastic, '' Atlantic City ''stood out but I thought '' Born To Run '' was superb.
Better than 1985 ? I would say no , but it certainly wasn't far away from it.

OMG! I'm totally overwhelmed here! There should be fireworks going off on this thread! I don't know WHAT I would do if I got to touch his hand or any part of his yummy body but I DO know I wouldn't be standing! I would honestly pass out!
Where was Ags when this was happening?
And did Mrs Sheik treat that hand with the reverence and piety it deserved, I have to ask?

Ags would have thrown herself at him - and then probably passed out too! I can't believe I missed him! In reality I was no doubt lost in the streets round Hampden at the time, ranting at Iain for "getting us lost" We stayed in such a "posh" hotel in Dublin, I half expected to meet him at breakfast :D I didn't though!
Kirsten is now definitely a fan.....she switched off "Hannah Montana" to have Bruce blasting this morning  It will be your wee princess next Sheik

As someone who has never attended a Bruce Springsteen concert before (I have seen Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Elton John, and Take That (amongst others) though!) I have read your thoughts on the concert and thought I should add my own!

I loved it! :D :D :D From start to finish it was excellent. Yes, maybe it did take a little while to get everyone 'jigging', but so what. What matters is I loved it! 8) 8) 8) Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

Ags, I don't think I would want to hug poor Bruce at the end of the night  The man was soaking in sweat

Mr knock was very impressed (he doesn't get out much) but commented that there were very few singers who get that sweaty. The only group I can remember getting that bad were Runrig!

Someone asked me if he was better than Take That. I would say they were totally different concerts, both equally as good. But Bruce is in a league of his own :D :D :D

Are you kidding? I can't think of anything more orgasmic than hugging a sweat-ridden Bruce Springsteen! Bring it on! The only lucky one round here is Mrs Sheik who at least can kiss and fondle that hand all weekend!

Knock. I am glad you gave your opinion.....please don't get me wrong....Springsteen was totally fab, it was the audience I had the problem with, yes it took a while. Glasgow audiences are renowned for being the "best".....any concert I have ever been at before they HAVE been the best. Why not on Tuesday?? and sorry again, I have to agree with GG.....a sweaty Mr Springsteen  bring it on
I am so pleased you enjoyed the concert, your wee poppet will be joining ms sheik junior next time round too!! I have been "FORCED" to watch Glastonbury tonight as K hadn't seen it.....such a chore for a Friday night  :D ps does anybody know how many people were in the crowd at Glastonbury??
Horse.........even you would have loved it :D

Too true, he'd have been a hoarse horse like the rest of us if he ever made a visit to the Promised Land! And I watched Glastonbury again tonight too Ags. Brilliant stuff! Did he do the 'We're going to build a house of love' thing at Hampden?

Love it Rainbowsprite, thanks! Personally, I LOVE the evangelical zeal of it all but one of my Glasgow friends thought it was corny :<> I remember reading an article about how contrived it was - anyway I've just googled it and found it:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/jun/28/bruce-springsteen-glastonbury-review

and I just SPIT on that 'low point' view. That's the bit I love! The Boss meets the Cross!

There has been a cracking review of the Hampden concert posted on www.brucespringsteen.net from backstreets.com.
They have also reports and set lists from all the concerts on this current tour.( I believe they have even played '' Santa Claus is coming to Town '' ).
