An Argyll and Bute school is celebrating after winning a national enterprise competition.
Drumlemble Primary, near Campbeltown, triumphed in the final of the Blythswood Schools Enterprise Challenge, held at the National Christian Outreach Centre in Perth.
Eight schools from across Scotland battled it out in the final, having been chosen on the basis of their efforts in completing three enterprise tasks to raise money for Blythswood Care’s Buckets of Love appeal.
The Drumlemble youngsters organised and ran a Buckets of Love party, a sponsored run and a car wash.
The children raised £340 in total and then had to submit a report about their enterprise to the judges.
Four children represented each school at the final. They were expected to do a 10 minute presentation to a panel of five judges, after which the judges asked them questions about their enterprise.
Argyll and Bute’s spokesperson for Education and Lifelong Learning, Councillor Isobel Strong, said: “It is a wonderful achievement for Drumlemble to have won this national competition.
“The children really embraced the challenge, and their commitment and enthusiasm clearly shone through in the final. I understand that he judges were so impressed by their presentation that they asked them to do it again for the other schools.
“By all accounts the Drumlemble pupils were wonderful ambassadors not just for their school but for the whole of Argyll and Bute, and I congratulate them for their success.”
