I was over there last week. Brilliant. It would put the pubs in the town to shame. There was a lovely atmosphere. Now I want to buy a boat! Anyone with a boat looking for a place to go should go over to Sanda. If there's a spare seat, give me a shout!!!!

Seems to be interest in Sanda even at the huge price tag.

Below is an extract from an article in today press.

"Mr Coleman, head of residential business in Scotland for Edinburgh-based estate agents Knight Frank, said that, while islands coming on to the market are a rarity, those with the cash to buy them are certainly not.

Mr Coleman said: “There are two markets out there, the market where people have to borrow and the market where people don't have to borrow – and the market where people don't have to borrow is booming. There is a huge amount of money, from people who don't have to borrow."

He declined to reveal the identity of the interested parties who are already queueing up to state their interest in Sanda, or whether there are any celebrities on the brochure request list."

I wonder if any local will be willing to dig deep for the £3.2 million required.

Funny you should say that EMDEE as I have given it some thought. The only way I can see it being a possibility is if I was to sell the condo in Florida and the villa in Cyprus, and there is no way that is going to happen.

It is possible though that a very nice Suthen' fermer might like to go halves on a cash bid. 8)

I see the asking price has been reduced from £3,250,000 to £2,750,000, as it has failed to attract a buyer.

Is there a Ferry service to the Island? Did this Island belong to the band 10cc once?

No actual ferry to the island but you can tender any of the boat trip operatives in the area, the island belonged
to Jack Bruce of the band Cream.

Jack Bruce was also a member of Manfred Mann before he formed Cream 8)

Unfortunately the nice farmer frae Suthen failed to come up with his half of the asking price.

So if there's no ferry, who drinks there? Do many people hire out boats? Would the pub be mostly frequented by fishermen?

And I agree: great bolthole!

Who has bought it? Does anyone know? I went over last summer with friends with a rib. It was a fantastic night, the sun was just going down. The pub was full of sailors from around here and Ireland. It was a lovely atmosphere. The kids were all playing football in the field with some of the men joining in. There was a barbecue going outside for anyone who wanted to throw some food on. I don't own a boat but if I did I would have been back.

Just noticed the reader's comment at the bottom of the report stating that Campbeltown is "akin to Royston Vasey". :<>
